In order to increase the efficiency of laser hair removal , several parameters must be taken into account. While some of these factors, such as genetics, skin or hair color, are not controllable, others are.

In this article, we share with you the main conditions to respect to succeed in your laser hair removal and ensure effective hair removal.

1. Avoid waxing, tweezing, electric epilators or threading.

Laser hair removal works best when the laser targets the hair in the Anagen phase to destroy the hair follicles. If you wax or tweeze, pulling the hair out from the root makes your laser treatment ineffective.

For those who are used to waxing, it is best to wait at least 4 to 6 weeks, during which time the hairs will grow back, before booking your appointment. This will ensure that the treatment is more beneficial and will remove more hairs at once.

We also recommend our guests to avoid hair removal cream, as it makes the skin sensitive and may even irritate it, which would make laser hair removal impossible!

2. Multiple laser hair removal sessions are required

Laser hair removal can provide significant results in just a few sessions; however, to optimize the treatment, several sessions will be necessary.

The laser is only effective in the anagen phase, i.e. during the hair growth period. In order to eliminate all the hairs in the area to be treated, count between 3 and 10 sessions spread over the duration of the hair cycle.

The interval between permanent hair removal sessions generally varies between 4 and 8 weeks. During this period, the hairs will be in the growth phase and will therefore be targeted by the laser.

3. Don’t skip your laser sessions!

If you want to achieve lasting and permanent results, make sure you attend all of your sessions. permanent hair removal laser treatment and to be diligent throughout the treatment. And this is true even if you notice a significant reduction in your hair from the first sessions!

4. Do not expose yourself to the sun before and after your sessions

Laser hair removal can be safely performed on all skin types, both light and dark skin, but it is not recommended for tanned skin.

Treating sun-tanned or self-tanned skin with laser can put you at risk for adverse reactions and disrupt the results.

For this reason, we always advise our guests at SSSKIN not to expose yourself to UV rays for at least 4 weeks before and after the laser session. Otherwise, our therapist will ask you to wait until the tan has faded before proceeding with the treatment.

PS Always protect your skin from UV rays with a high SPF sunscreen.

5. Shave before each laser session

For effective permanent hair removal, it is necessary to shave the area to be treated at least 24 hours before the session so that the skin is smooth and no hair protrudes, thus allowing the laser beam to penetrate the bulb. The laser will then be able to effectively target the hair and eliminate the hair follicle.

It is important to keep in mind that the results of laser hair removal differ from one person to another. In some cases, the evolution of the treatment will be observed after only one session, in other cases in 3 to 8 sessions.

By applying these 5 tips, you can optimize your results and ensure the success of your laser hair removal. Here are a complete guide to preparing for your laser hair removal session , with more detailed advice.
