1. Avoid all exposure to UV rays
It is imperative not to expose the areas to be treated to the sun or to use self-tanning products or tanning activators. during the 2 to 6 weeks preceding the hair removal sessions . This way, the laser can target only the hair and not the tanned skin, thus limiting any risk of burns or depigmentation.
2. Avoid applying photosensitizing products
Substances that increase skin photosensitivity include benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, as well as retinol and essential oils found in some cosmetic products. To reduce the risk of burns, avoid using these products. at least 2 to 3 days before the session .
3. Stop taking photosensitizing medications
Some medications reduce the effectiveness of laser treatment and others increase skin sensitivity and make it more prone to burns.
Please inform your therapist at your first consultation session if you are undergoing treatment before proceeding with your session.
4. Do not wax or bleach your hair before your laser hair removal treatment.
The hair bulb must be intact on the day of treatment so that the laser beam can reach and destroy it. Then, 2 to 4 weeks before your session , avoid any hair removal method that pulls the hair out by the root, including waxing, electric epilators, threading, tweezing, etc.
You should also not bleach your hair. The darker the hair, the easier it is for the laser beam to reach it.
5. Cleanse and exfoliate the skin
Take care to thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate the area to be treated with a gentle, pH-balanced product to remove dead skin and impurities.
Also remove all traces of makeup and cream from the skin.
The goal is to eliminate any barriers that could prevent the laser from targeting the hair and hinder its effectiveness.
6. Shave before laser hair removal
Shave the areas to be treated 24-48 hours before your laser hair removal session. Avoid scented and potentially irritating hair removal creams. Irritated skin cannot be treated with a laser;
Note: To feel comfortable after your laser hair removal session and to allow the treated area to breathe, wear light, loose-fitting clothing that does not stick to your skin.
